A Connection between The Odyssey and Another Piece of Literature
Another piece of literature that is similar to The Odyssey is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Dicamillo. This book is similar to The Odyssey because Edward is a little bunny who loves his home and when he gets lost, he has to go through many journeys to find his way back to the little girl who loves him. In The Odyssey, Odysseus loves his home and also goes through many difficult jorneys to find his way home back to the people who love him.

Connection Between Myself and Odysseus
The connection I made between myself and Odysseus is that we are both very family oriented. Through out Odysseus's whole journey home he just wants to get back to his family. Family is something that he values very much and that means a lot to him. When he saw his son for the first time in a very long time, it meant so much to him, he started sobbing. Odysseus knows that the most important thing in his life is to be close with his family and to love them dearly.
I completely understand where he is coming from with these emotions. My family is very close and we have many family dinners and parties. Whenever there is a birthday or really any reason to celebrate, we all get together and have a great time together. Without my family my life would be very different. It is always fun to go somewhere and see a family member. Being with each other is something that we cherish and something that I hope to have in the future.

Quote
"Held back to long, the tears ran down his cheeks as he embraced his son." Page 295 Line 123-124

In this quote you can learn a lot about Odysseus's character. He has just been reunited with his son, who he has not seen in such a long time, so he is a very emotional person. Everyone believes that Odysseus is a very tough guy who might not be so close with his family but in the quote you can learn that he, in fact, is sensitive and he cares a lot about his family and being a good father. People look at Odysseus and see a hero but they also see someone who wants to be with his wife and child. This quote can show one a lot about who Odysseus is as a person.

Summary from a Different Point of View
Odysseus encounters many adventures and one is when the pass the Sirens and don't stop. This will be told from the Sirens point of view.

Our voices are like magic, innocent people want to hear us but then they have to stay and face death. They can be like a magnetic force. That is why, when Odysseus came around, we didn't expect what would happen. It began like any other day, we saw some sailors and thought they would come around. But we were wrong. It was like they didn't even hear us. What was happening? Suddenly we saw Odysseus tied to a pole begging to be let out to come to us. But his crew did nothing. When he pleaded, they pulled the ropes tighter against his arms and legs. How do they not hear us? We sang louder and louder, yet they went on their normal route with Odysseus wanting to stop so badly. This was a first for us, no one had ever passed us and survived. How is this happening? Why aren't they turning to us? It was a new experience and one we all hope to never have again.
